| Source: Sign On San Diego A new venue has finally been announced for Smashing Pumpkins' Sept. 19 concert, which was originally scheduled for the same day at downtown's Embarcadero Marina Park South. The concert will now be held Sept. 19 at the SDSU Open Air Theatre. By coincidence, that is the same venue Smashing Pumpkins performed at here in May 2000, which was its last local gig before disbanding a short while later. The opening band for the show here is Hellride, featuring former Jane's Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins, ex-Minutemen bassist Mike Watt and guitarist Pete DiStefano. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ticketmaster; all seats are priced at $52.50 each (plus service charges). A special Internet pre-sale, sponsored by iTunes, will begin Thursday at 10 a.m. and run through 10 p.m. Friday. However, you must have an ITunes password in order to buy tickets during the pre-sale. |
