March 30, 2003 - Braden Auditorium - Illnois State - Normal, IL, US Concert review by Derek (dpberub at ilstu dot edu) Siva - Zwan : Concert Reviews I was lucky enough to see ZWAN last night for the second time, and I was extremely impressed. First of all, Queens of the Stone Age put on a high intesity show, and displayed their unique rock style. However, the accustics did not match their loud style, which made their set less enjoyable. Luckily, this problem was absent when ZWAN palyed. They opened with Jesus/God's Going to Set This world on Fire which gave the crowd a taste of past ZWAN work. They then went directly into Dont Let Me Down and Honestly, which seemed to win over the crowd quickly. My high point for me was hearing a new song, Friends as Lover, and Lovers as Friends ( I might have messed this title up), which was of a very similar style to Of a Broken Heart. If anyone has a recording of this song, let me know. My only complaint is that most of their set consisted of their new CD. I would have like to have heard some earlier stuff. But all in all, it was one of the better shows I have ever been to. One more thing, the light show for both bands was intense, it gave their sets way more character. |
