February 14, 2008 - Nottingham Arena - Nottingham, UK Concert review by EZRyder Siva - Zwan : Concert Reviews I was looking forward to seeing SP, based on comments from a mate that saw them at Reading. I'd seen SP 3 times before, the Astoria on the Siamese Dream tour and twice at the NEC. The last time at the NEC was on their final tour and they were very poor, the set was a mess and it wasn't the way I wanted to see the band finish their career. Anyway the setlist looked good for 2008 and I was willing to ignore their previous show. But what I saw was a frontman that once again brought an ego to the stage. Billy looked unhappy at being at the show and decided to cut the set short just after 1979. The first the crowd knew about it (and security for that matter as they went into panic mode) was when the house lights went up. People milled about for 5 or 10mins and then one of the Notts management team got on the tannoy to confirm that the gig had finished. Though I'll keep getting the music, I won't be going to see SP again. |
