February 14, 2008 - Nottingham Arena - Nottingham, UK Concert review by Red Siva - Zwan : Concert Reviews Disappointed isn't the word. Ive been waiting years to actually get to see the pumpkins so when I got the chance to see them last night I was sooo exited. And when they played it was fantastic. Loved Lily, ava adore, mayonaise, the acoustic numbers sounded fab, in fact the whole gig was great and was really enjoying seeing the legends that are the smashing pumpkins. After looking at what they had played previously, we were expecting a mammoth setlist filled with gems. And they followed it through until 1979 (which sounded brilliant btw), at which point billy corgan walked off the stage and didn't come back. No encore, no goodbye, no nothing. I wouldn't have minded being cut short about 9 songs if he had warned us that this was going to be the last song, but no. We all felt let down. And it was obviously not supposed to happen because all of the staff were pretty confused and didn't have a clue either. Fair enough if there was a problem or one of them was ill or something. But they should have at least said something or got someone to give an announcement. At least that would have stopped some of the boos that they received. The general feeling was that they just couldn't be bothered to play anymore. Some people were saying maybe because they hadn't filled out the arena. I'm sorry, but just because some people are missing out, doesn't mean that the people who were there didn't give a damn. And we really did. Were they just not feeling the crowd? Well i think its pretty lame to just stop like that.I think everyone that night felt pretty disappointed in the pumpkins and let down. I know I did. An explanation would have been nice. |
