January 26, 2003 - Museum of Science and Industry - Chicago, IL, US Concert review by Michael Pry (veos232 at yahoo dot com) Siva - Zwan : Concert Reviews Wow what an intimate and wonderful party. Yes I did say party! The night kicked off at around 6:30. As I rode up the escalator to the main floor, I was surprised to see tables full of snacks for everyone to enjoy and also bar tables scattered around. This was certainly a change from any concert I have been to. I took my few drinks and turned around to see very few people near the stage. Most of the people were actually away from the front row talking with members of the press. Being a person who has always wanted to be front row, I quickly made my way over to the stage. I actually had my choice of where to stand. Of course I stood front and center. Amazed at my view, I knew this was going to be something very special. I waited patiently and watched as the backstage crew attempted to attach a camcorder to Billy's mic. After around 10 minutes, they were finally successful in doing so and the stage was set. Once Billy and his crew came on, I was amazed at his presence. The band sounded really good too with Billy smiling nearly the entire time. He seems so happy now. One of the reasons I have always wanted to be front row was to have a chance at getting a pick or something I could remember the night by. I was determined very early on to get one of his picks. After several attempts at getting his attention, finally at the end of the set I not only got a pick but he personally handed it to me. He also shook several peoples hands. Once Billy left the stage, I turned around to see a horde of press. I was surprised to see so much press. Out of the 150-200 people there I would say they comprised around 70% of the people. After waiting around for 20 minutes I decided to go the bathroom which was located all the way on the ground floor. As I was making my way into the bathroom my girlfriend noticed Billy coming out. After a short conversation with him and getting an autograph and a picture, I went back upstairs. There I discovered Paz was mingling with people in the crowd. I couldn't get a chance to talk to here though as she was in a hurry to get back to the press interviews. Overall it was an amazing show that only the band we love can do. |
