September 28, 2007 - Utah Valley State College - Orem, UT, US Concert review by Tribal Fusion Chickon Siva - Zwan : Concert Reviews I was there! My first concert of theirs even though I've been a fan since Mellon Collie. Even though it was a tour for Zeitgeist, it was a good 'Best Of' tour. They played a range of songs from other albums, even Pices! And they even played Perfect and Ava Adore from the Adore album, and reading all the set lists listed for this tour sofar, those songs were rarely in the set!! And I'm a huge Adore fan so I was stoked. During the middle of the show, as Billy was doing an acoustic set of songs, before the next song he was going to play, he mentioned how he was speaking to a mother backstage who was telling him about her daughter who was a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan and was showing him lots of pictures of this girl, Alissa (sp?), wearing SP shirts, and he was inspired to dedicate the acoustic version of 1979 he played, to her. Very heart-felt of Billy. New basist and guitarist did well, but alas, I miss the originals. And at the end of the main set, SP graced us with 2 encors. And a huge treat was at the very end, when Billy stayed out onstage and clapped with us for many minutes and mimed many 'thanks' to the audience; walking the stage doing this. He even went to all the microphone stands and took off all the extra guitar pics and threw them at the audience for keepsakes. It was all too awesome!! |
