December 12, 2001 - The Intersection - Grand Rapids, MI, US Concert review by Courtney (grrrlystar at aol dot com) Siva - Zwan : Concert Reviews this was comfortable. zwan seemed comfortable. maybe because they were playing acoustic, maybe because they seem to all be friends. for a relatively new group, they played a relatively long and complete set, relaxed, making fun of the kids in the audience yelling their compliments. compliments seem kind of redundant at this point, wouldn't you say? a boy that i don't even know, who likes the pictures that i take, who lives three thousand miles away, spent three twenties on two tickets and decided that i should have them. so he sent the mail as fast as possible, and my roommate and i drove two hours to the show and only got lost a little. this boy said it was nice to see someone passionate about something. that he knows how it feels. and so we went to the show... the intersection is a small place, and even smaller when someone i last saw play in a basketball arena is ten feet away singing in my favourite voice. it was like hearing an old band play the songs i couldn't sing along to, not yet, and it was wonderful. like leaving a stuffy house to breathe the first brisk winter air, and remembering what it felt like the year before, and how could you ever have forgotten. but the show was not brisk. more like a lullaby to kids who weren't ready for bed. |
