April 8, 2003 - Hard Rock Live - Orlanda, FL, US Concert review by Keith Donald (kdonald at cfl dot rr dot com) Siva - Zwan : Concert Reviews The show was incredible. The band's sound was awesomely loud, wow. Best words I can pick to describe the show: one helluva sonic showcase of pure rock 'n' roll. Jimmy's drumming was amazing as usual, from the opening Mary Star of the Sea jam to rapidly-crisp fills in Endless Summer and Baby Let's Rock. Once again Corgan proves he is KING when it comes to "how to end a song with a bang 101" holy sh*t they sounded good! A personal highlights for me was the 3-4 "Declaration of Faith" + "Honestly" mix to end the first set. Matt, Paz, and Billy singing in harmony during "Jesus I" was another. And of course, the two encores, my favorite being "Of a Broken Heart", which Billy dedicated to us the audience. Funny moments--some chick proceeded to flash Billy during Faith and he could barely finish the song he was laughing so hard... some dude up in the seats brought a chicago cubs shirt which he acknowledged "woo hoo go cubs." :) A few die-hard zwan'ers had Z's pasted to their heads and "Billy you butter my toast" posters. The audience was really into the show which made it all the more fun... Here was the set list: Mary Star of the Sea Lyric Yeah El sol Endless Summer Dont Let Me Down Jesus I Gods Gonna Set This World On Fire Friends As Lovers and Lovers As Friends Baby Let's Rock Heartsong (with violin) Declaration of Faith Honestly Encore 1 Spilled milk (heavy heavy) Encore 2 Settle down (i have to say I like this one so much more live.) Of a broken heart (w/ violin) My ears are still ringing which is usually always a good sign. :) Zwan come back to Florida soon...maybe Melbourne next time :) |
