December 6, 2002 - Universal Amphitheatre - Los Angeles, CA, US Concert review by Richard (spaceboy3379 at aol dot com) Siva - Zwan : Concert Reviews this was my second time seeing zwan. i had paid double price for these tickets just to see 45 minutes and a six song set performed by the talents of matt sweeney, david pajo, paz, jimmy chamberlin and the erstwhile billy corgan. after suffering much trauma listening to these other bands, and getting a delay after the used's set (which was the fight between billy and the lead singer of the used), i stood up and cheered for zwan who made their appearence. the setlist followed as -endless summer -declarations of faith -settle down -honestly -and so i died of a broken heart -mary star of the sea it was surprising how the fight didnt affect billy's playing because he really rocked out. seeing "and so i died of a broken heart" for the second time live was also really great because it made such a transformation since the first time it was played. (at the glasshouse, first show) from matt's delayed clean tone guitar to paz's violin. last, "mary star of the sea". it kind of reminded me of "starla" and "porcelina of the vast oceans". i screamed "chrysanthemum" a few times in hopes that it was on the setlist, but unfortunately, it hasnt been played since the first few shows. the communication was kept to a minimum with billy. he mumbled a few words now and then, but nonetheless, it was awesome. |
